BERRIEN SPRINGS, MI – June 8, 2021 – Honor Credit Union is proud to support local, outstanding high school seniors with the annual Honor Credit Union Community Commitment Scholarship. Twenty-three students throughout Michigan received $1,000 to be used towards furthering their education. Reinforcing Honor Credit Union’s dedication to supporting the local community, emphasizing extracurricular activities and what that means for applicants was included in the scholarship essay.
The following students exemplify community commitment and are positive role models for their community service and academic success:

While this year held some uncertainties on whether school award ceremonies would be held, Honor team members thought outside the box to find other creative ways to present to recipients. One winner was even surprised in a “Publishers Clearing House” style presentation. Accompanied with a live video stream, balloons, and a large check, Honor’s Northern Michigan Regional Manager, Jamie Gollakner, arranged to surprise his scholarship winner at their home.
“Although, unlike Publishers Clearing House, we aren’t giving $1,000 every week for life, receiving the Community Commitment Scholarship is the start of building the foundation for future leaders,” commented Gollakner, “By being involved in our communities, these students are helping to make their community a better place.”
